Two-headed Saang Hong in Red
Name: Two-headed Saang Hong in Red

Item#: 9080

This is a brightly colored woman's shoulder cloth that women wear to temple. We couldn't resist snapping up due to its interesting depiction of the two-headed Saang Hong (mythological elephant-bird) pregnant with a rainbow which represents the Hong bird (mythological bird who's belly is the rainbow), particularly as it was handwoven by a talented 13-year old young lady. The cloth is woven of hand-reeled, naturally dyed silk, with a new twist in the pattern of this traditional creature. The weaver goes to school during the day and comes home to weave, by her choice. Comes with a photo of the weaver modeling her cloth.

Size: 7 in x 77 in.

Origins: Houaphon Province, Laos

Price: $165.00
